This
Church was begun by Father Michael McDermott and was
finally completed in 1875. The building of this church
was a tremendous achievement at a time when Catholics
had just emerged from the famine. Emigrants in the US
contributed generously to the cost of building this
fine stone church. It replaced the old one at Donecoy
which was built in the mid seventeen hundreds and is
still visible beside the stream in Donecoy. This church
continued in use until the Church of the Immaculate
Conception was completed. Canon Brady built the present
parochial house in 1967.
