Minister of State for Transport Pat the Cope Gallagher TD. celebrates success of the West Sligo Rural Transport Initiative in Dromore West.
On Wednesday 13 th September the Sligo Leader Partnership Company celebrated the huge success of the West Sligo Rural Transport Initiative with a visit from Minister of State for Transport – Pat the Cope Gallagher TD. A large crowd attended the celebration in the Community Centre in Dromore West. Speakers on the day were: Gerard Queenan Mayor of West Sligo & Chairman of the West Sligo Rural Transport Working Group, Michael Quigley CEO Sligo Leader Partnership Co., Gerard Mullaney Sligo Leader Partnership Co., Camilla Smyth Community Development Worker Sligo Leader Partnership Co. & Rural Transport Co-ordinator, Ann Rutledge Volunteer Driver – Social Car Scheme, Margaret Burns Passenger on Rural Transport Services, Sean Owens Banada Development Agency & Minister Pat The Cope Gallagher. After the speeches a Buffet Lunch was served which was enjoyed by all.
The Rural Transport is to be mainstreamed in 2007 to the delight of all involved & funding for the Rural Transport will be doubled next year which is testament to the huge success of the Rural Transport Initiative to date.
The West Sligo Rural Transport currently run 13 services in West, North & South Sligo which are booked in advance, a fare of €5 return is charged and Free Travel Passes are accepted on all our services.
