In
1997 the Association undertook a further project,
with the acquisition, from the Co. Sligo V.E.C.,
of the Corballa Vocational School: i.e. the old
Vocational School, located on the main Sligo to
Ballina Road, in the parish of Castleconnor. The
purpose of this new undertaking was a provide a
base for the Association's Training and Employment
Services', for adults with learning difficulties
and special needs, together with catering for their
social and recreational activities, within the Tireagh
area.

fact, the old school building was in remarkably good
condition, despite having been closed for 30 years.
Refurbishment of the building represented a large
investment for the Association, and it is anticipated
that the Grand Aid being sought from the 'Peace and
Reconciliation Fund' will be successful in helping
finance the project. Local people have contributed
financially through the many fund-raising events of
the Association, and of other organisations in the
area. Refurbishment on the new Corballa resource centre
has now been completed, leaving the building ready
for use; with the landscape and ground the new Centre
has been refurbished to provide 4 specific training
areas catering for: |
